Off for a 3 week trip along the Eastern US Seaboard
Left Home on April 12
First stop is the Williamsburg / Jamestown / Yorktown area of Virginia!
Arrived in the Williamsburg area April 13 and took a ride to the James Town settlement . Temps are 80s and forecast to stay there.
APRIL 14
Started the day with a visit to the Powhatan Creek Trail. There were lots of birds and birders willing to give tips and advice. We were told that we might see a Prothonatory Warbler if we were lucky and one flew up on cue and posed in the swamp.
Sure enough, there it was.
ON TO WILLIAMSBURG COLONIAL VILLAGE
We arranged to meet up with Michelle's high school friend Lise, who was our guide through the living museum. The village is beautifully reproduced to represent the 18th century, with convincing reinactors who poured themselves into their roles.

| Michelle catching Lise up with the last 40 years of life! |

We travelled to the Yorktown Battleground to explore the site and get a sense for the scale of the place. The visitor center brought some of this to life. It is a large area with only a vestige remaining of the earthworks thrown up for the battle. It made for a lovely tranquil bike ride.
Finished the day with a visit to a replica James Town Colony, complete with 2 sailing ships that approximate the boats that brought the first colonists.
