We launched the Ollie (RV) back on the road on April 11, headed for Columbus OH where we will stay over night with friends Katie and Michael ( who I rode cross country with).
APRIL 12
The next day, we were back on the road for another full day of driving to St Louis, MO. On advice from Michael, we went to The Gateway Arch which dominates the cityscape. It is truely a unique structure, stretching 200 meters tall and wide. We even rode to the top on a tram!

Riding up the tram with 2 other visitors
Drove another 550 miles today, all on Rt 70 across Missouri and much of Kansas. Lots of open terrain, with rolling hills dotted with villages, cities, and working farms. We ended the day in the small burg of Wakeeney, KS. We chose this because there is a harvest host here. Harvest Hosts are businesses that participate in a program that allows self contained campers to spend a night in an available space (a parking lot or field) with the agreement that the campers will spend some money in the business. Tonight we are staying at The Prairie Rose restaurant which is where we had dinner.
The town of Wakeeney is a small patchwork of roads that would be all but lost in the miles and miles of Kansas plains, but for the highway going by, providing a lifeline. We took a bike ride around town (all of it) before dinner.
