Glenwood Springs, Colorado

We got up early again for a final long push through Colorado ending at Glenwood Springs. Michelle has  had lasting and fond memories of the town from our cross country trip with the kids in 2007. She is especially looking forward to the hot springs.

We stayed in the same campground as last time, which is lovely, with a site just feet from the Colorado River which is gushing this time of year. It is early in the season and there are few other campers staying here.

Driving past the hundreds of wind power generators in Kansas and Colorado.

It was cold and misty crossing the Rocky Mts

Lots of construction on the steep descent

Driving over the construction areas got a little bumpy! We had to tidy up the Ollie.
Securely tucked into our camp site

Glenwood Springs is a distinctly western looking town surrounded by steep, dry hillsides
This is the old, classic Glenwood Springs Hotspring

We started the day with a hike up to the old graveyard

This is where Doc Holliday was buried

Next up was a bike ride up the Rio Grande Trail

This is a paved trail along the Roaring Fork River

The trail starts out heading toward beautiful Mt Sopris

It eventually goes all the way to Aspen

We only went as far as Carbondale for lunch

And, of course, we ended the afternoon at another hot Springs

Dinner at the campground, on the Colorado River.
